Through my practice I explore the social constructs perpetuated by the media, particularly concerning personal interactions. This triptych of collages is inspired by Julia Kristeva's notion of the abject: the innate horror felt when confronted with the 'other'. By juxtaposing this with the glossy visual language of magazines I strive to question the idealised, airbrushed representation of femininity, and its relation to the act of consuming.
